Binomial the sum or difference of two monomials
Polynomial a monomial or a sum of monomials
Trinomial the sum or difference of three monomials
Axis of Symmetry the vertical line that cuts the parabola in half through its vertex
Maximum for a parabola that opens downward, the vertex is this
Minimum for a parabola that opens upward, the vertex is this
Parabola u-shaped graph of a quadratic function
Quadratic Equation an equation in the form y = ax2 + bx + c
Roots solutions and x-intercepts of a quadratic equation
Vertex the highest or lowest point in the parabola
Vertical Compression In a parabola, it makes the graph wider
Vertical Stretch In a parabola, it makes the graph more narrow
X-intercept where the line or parabola crosses the x-axis
Zeros the solutions to a quadratic equation when each factor is set equal to zero
Exponential Decay occurs when the value of a>1 and 0<b<1, and the graph is a decreasing curve
Exponential Function a function where the variable is the exponent; written in the form of y=abx
Exponential Growth occurs when the value of a>0 and b>1 and the graph is an increasing curve
Inverse Variation a function where one of the variables increases and the other variable decreases; written in the form y=a/x and a is not equal to zero
