| diameter | a chord that contains the center of a circle |
| secant of a circle | a line that a chord |
| tangent to a circle | a line that lies in the in the plane of a circle and that intersects the circle at exactly one point |
| circle | the set of all points in a plane at a given point in the plane |
| radius | a segment from a point on a circle or a sphere to center |
| congruent circle | circles with the same radius |
| concentric circles | circles that lie in the same plane that share the same center |
| inscribed angle | angle whose vertex lies on a circle and whose sides contain chords of the circle |
| central angle | angle whose vertex is the center of a circle and whose sides contain radii of the circle |
| circumference | distance around a circle that is the perimeter of a circle |
| arc length | a fraction of the circumfernce of a circle defined by the arc |
| arc of a circle | two points on a circle and the continous part of the circle between the two points |
| semicircle | an arc of circle whose endpoints are the endpoints of a diameter |
| minnor arc | an arc of the circle whose lenght is less than the lenght of a semicircle of the circle |
| major arc | an arc of a circle whose length is greater than the length semicircle of the circle |
