| Term | Definition |

| Chord | a segment whose endpoints lie on a circle |
| Diameter | a chord that contains the center of a circle |
| Secant of a Circle | a line that contains a chord |
| Tangent to a Circle | a line that lies in the plane of a circle and that intersects the circle at exactly one point (point of tangency) |
| Circle | The set of all points in a plane at a given point in the plane |
| Radius | A segment from a point on a circle or a sphere to the center. |
| Congruent Circles | Circles with the same radius |
| Concentric Circles | Circles that lie in the same plane that share the same center. |
| Inscribed Angle | Angle whose vertex lies on a circle and whose sides contain chord of the circle. |
| Central Angle | Angle whose vertex is the center of a circle and whose sides contain radii of the circle. |
| Circumference | Distance around a circle, that is, the perimeter of a circle. |
| Arc Length | A fraction of the circumference of a circle defined by the arc |
| Semicircle | An arc of a circle whose endpoints are the endpoints of a diameter |
| Minor Circle | An arc of a circle whose length is less than the lenght of a semicircle of the circle |
| Major Arc | An arc of a circle whose length is greater than the length of a semicircle of the circle |
