polynomial a monomial or sum or difference of monomials, each called a term
leading coefficient the coefficient of the first term of a polynomial when written in standard form
degree of a monomial the sum of the exponents of all the variables in the monomial
trinomial the sum or difference of three monomials
standard form the form of a polynomial that is written with the terms in order from greatest degree to least degree
binomial the sum or difference of two monomials
degree of a polynomial the greatest degree of any term in a polynomial, that is, the highest exponent
constant a monomial that is a real number
quadratic expression a polynomial of degree 2
linear expression a polynomial of degree 1
