basic math terms

Mean the sum of n numbers divided by n
median the middle of a numerically arranged set of numbers
mode most frequently shown number
range difference between the greatest and the lowest numbers in a set
supplementary angles angles that add up to 180 degrees
complementary angles angles that add up to 90 degrees
acute angles an angle less than 90 degrees
obtuse angle an angle more than 90 degrees but less than 180 degrees
straight angle an angle that is 180 degrees
reflex angle an angle more than 180 degrees but less than 360 degrees
right angle an angle that is 90 degrees
parallel lines two lines that never cross
perpendicular lines two lines that intersect at a 90 degree angle
scalene triangle a triangle that has no equal angles and no equal sides
isosceles triangle a triangle that has two equal sides and two equal angles
equilateral triangle a triangle that has all equal sides and all equal angles
polygon simple closed curved shape with only segments as sides
quadrilateral a polygon with four sides
perimeter the distance around a figure
circumference the distance around a circle
