Even though the Inca didn't have a written language that we know of, they were all required to speak a common language called Quechua
What type of environment did the Inca live in? a challenging area where earthquakes,volcanic eruptions, and dry land made it difficult to farm and survive
How did the Inca physically adapt to their difficult living environment? Over time,scientists have found that the Inca developed larger lungs to deal with the difficult altitude and shorter stronger legs to travel long distances.
Why was the building of a complex network of roads so important to the Incan empire? it linked all parts of the empire together and made it easier to get information and trade to each other.
What type of religion did the Incas practice? polytheism
Who was the main god that they followed? the sun god;Inti
How would one describe the Incan government? a theocracy in that they looked at their leader as a living god.
Why was the Inca system of government unique? they felt it was their reponsibility to take care of the sick, disabled, and elderly.
Why was the capital city of Cuzco so important? it was both the administrative and religious center for the empire.
How did the Inca Empire control most of their economic activity? by regulating the production and distribution of goods.
Pachacuti was an ambitious Incan ruler.How did he expand the Incan Empire? through conquests and diplomacy
Why do historians compare the Incan government system to a modern welfare state? because citizens who were expected to work for the state were also taken care of in return.
What gods did the Inca worship? they worshiped a few nature spirits,the sun, the moon, the stars, and thunder.
Why did the Incas believe their leader was a god? they believed that their leader was a descendant of the son god;Inti and therefore the worship of the son god was comparable to the worship of their king.
Which son of Huayana Capac won the Incan civil war? Atahualapa
What led to the downfall of the Incan Empire? their civil war and the Spanish invasion and eventual conquest
