Solution Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Solution a uniform mixture that can contain solids, liquids or gases.
Solute one or more substances that dissolved in a solution?
Solvent a substance that dissolves a solute to form a solution, the most plentiful substance in the solution.
Aqueous Solution A solution in which the solvent is water
Miscible Describes two liquids that are soluble in each other.
Immiscible Describes two liquids that are not soluble in each other.
Dissolution How fast the salute dissolves in the solvent.
Concentration The amount of substance
