Y-Intercept The point where the graph crosses the Y-axis (0,Y) (0,7)
Slope The rate of change or steepness of a line
Vertex The lowest (Minimum) or Highest (Maximum)point of a parabola
Line of symmetry The line that passes through the vertex and divides the parabola in two symmetric parts
Liner equations An equation whose graph is a line Y=mX+b
Quadratic equation An equation whose graph is a parabola
Domain the set of all X's of a function
Range The set of all Y's of a finction
Independent variable The X variable of a function. (what we must know, what happens first)
Dependent Variable the Y variable of a function (the result)
Variable A letter used to represent one or more numbers
Algebraic Expressuin an expression that includes of least on variable 8X r 2X-7
Function When the domain does not repeat (7,5) (-7,5) (4,8)
Not a function When the Domain does repeat (7,5) (-7,5) (4,8)
Like terms Terms that have the same variable 7X2Y
