| Fallacy | A deceptive, misleading, or false notion, or misleading argument. |
| False Dichotomy | Statement using the words either-or. |
| Non Sequitur | Does not follow premises. Statement containing an illogical conclusion |
| Connotation | An idea or quality that a word makes you think about in addition to its meaning |
| Denotation | The meaning of a word or phrase |
| Misleading Quotations | Taking words out of other people's mouths and changing what they said. |
| Ad Hominem | An attack on a person's character rather than his or her opionions or arguments |
| Red Herring | This is a diversionary tactic that avoids the key issues. Avoids opposing arguments rather than addressing them. |
| Straw Man | This move oversimplifies an opponent's viewpoint and then attacks that hollow argument |
