| Deductive | Deduction from accepted premises. General to Specific |
| Syllogism | Deductive reasoning. Consists of a major premise, a minor premise, and a conclusion. |
| Premise | A proposition supporting or helping to support a conclusion. |
| Ethos | Moral element in literature that determines an action not thought/emotion. Ethical/Credibility |
| Pathos | Quality of speech that arouses feelings of pity, sorrow, etc. Emotions |
| Logos | Rational principle expressed in words. Logical. |
| Emotional Appeals | Goes with pathos. Especially fear |
| Transfer | Used in advertisements. Projecting positive/negative feelings from one to another. Putting yourself in the ad. |
| Bandwagon Appeal | Join or give support to a group/movement that seems to be assured of success |
| Ellipsis Dots | Omission of parts of a word or sentence |
