Inductive Inductive reasoning. Specific to General
Deductive Deduction from accepted premises. General to Specific
Syllogism Deductive reasoning. Consists of a major premise, a minor premise, and a conclusion.
Premise A proposition supporting or helping to support a conclusion.
Ethos Moral element in literature that determines an action not thought/emotion. Ethical/Credibility
Pathos Quality of speech that arouses feelings of pity, sorrow, etc. Emotions
Logos Rational principle expressed in words. Logical.
Emotional Appeals Goes with pathos. Especially fear
Transfer Used in advertisements. Projecting positive/negative feelings from one to another. Putting yourself in the ad.
Bandwagon Appeal Join or give support to a group/movement that seems to be assured of success
Ellipsis Dots Omission of parts of a word or sentence
