Terms we are working on learning in 3rd grade

Dynamics How loud or soft music is
Variation A repetition of the theme, only changed a little bit
Theme The main melody of a piece of music
Sequence A melody pattern that repeats at a higher or lower pitch
Mezzo Piano To play or sing medium softly
Piano To play or sing softly
Decrescendo Become gradually softer
Crescendo Become gradually louder
Tone color The difference in sound because of an instrument's material, size, shape, or how it's played
Fortissimo To play or sing very loudly
Forte To play or sing loudly
Mezzo Forte To play or sing medium loudly
Staccato Notes that are detached, not connected
Glissando To slide up and down the notes
Legato Notes that are smooth and connected
Accompany To play along with another instrument or voice
