Arithmetic

QuestionAnswer
What is addition? The Mathematical operation to find the SUM of two numbers.
What is subtraction? The Mathematical operation in which the DIFFERENCE between two numbers is found
What is multiplication? The Mathematical operation in which two numbers are combined together to give a PRODUCT.
What is division? The Mathematical operation to find the result (the QUOTIENT) of dividing one number by another number.
What is the associative law? The rule which states that the grouping of numbers or terms and symbols in an expression does not affect the result.
What is the commutative law? The rule which states that the order in which numbers to terms and symbols in an expression are combined does not affect the result.
What is BIMDAS? The order in which operations should be performed in an expression involving mixed operations.(Brackets,Indices,Multiplication or Division and Addition or Subtraction.)
What is long division? A process by which large numbers are divided without the use of a calculator.
What is long multiplication? A method of multiplying large numbers without a calculator.
What is rounding? The process of estimating a number to the nearest whole number
