| static electricity | a buildup of electric charge on an object |
| electrical conductor | a material in which charges move freely |
| electrical insulator | material in which charges cannot move easily |
| semiconductor | a special class of materials that conduct electric charge better than electrical insulators but not as well as electrical conductors |
| electric current | the rate at which electric charge flows |
| voltage | amount of work required to move each unit of charge between two points. |
| resistance | the opposition to the flow of electrical charge |
| electric circut | a complete closed path through which electric charge flows |
| series circut | all parts connected in a row that forms one path for electrical charge to flow |
| parallel circut | electric charges that have more than one path that they can follow |
