| Term | Definition |

| Non sequiter | Conclusion that does not logically follow the previous statement |
| Straw man | An argument in which one is set up to be defeated |
| Begging the question | Basing a conclusion off of an unproved assumption |
| False dichotomy (either-or) | Limited alternatives are considered |
| Red herring | A misleading clue in an argument |
| Hasty generalization | Not considering all variables |
| Misleading statistics | statistical argument falsehood |
| Stereotype (sweeping generalization) | Applies to a general statement too broadly |
| Slippery slope | An idea that leads to disaster, wrongdoing, or an inappropriate action. |
| False analogy | faulty instance of an argument |
| Circular reasoning | Useless argument, conclusion is a premise |
| Post hoc, ergo propter hoc | "Therefore, because of this" argument |
| ad hominem | arising from emotions, not logic |
