| mercenary | A professional soldier hired for service in a foreign army. |
| charter | A written grant from the sovereign power of a country giving certain rights and privileges on a person(s), a corporation, or a town or colony |
| chivalry | Qualities expected of a knight, such as courage, generosity, and courtesy. |
| parliamentary government | A system of government in which the power to make and execute laws is held by a parliament, which is like our Congress. |
