Algebra Chapter 5 Linear Equations

QuestionAnswer
x intercept The point where the graph intersects the x axis. The y-coordinate of this point is always zero.
direct variation A special type of linear equation that can be written in the form y = kx
y intercept The point where the graph intersects the y axis. The x coordinate of this point is always zero.
linear equation An equation that can be written in standard form.
slope The ratio of rise to run for any two points on a line.
Rotation The type of transformation that occurs when only the slope of the line changes.
translation The type of transformation that occurs when only the y-intercept of the line changes.
