| protractor | a tool used to measure angles |
| acute angle | an angle less than 90 degrees |
| obtuse angle | an angle greater than 90 degrees |
| straight angle | an angle that measures 180 degrees |
| right angle | an angle equal to 90 degrees |
| center | the point inside a circle that is the same distance from all the points on the circle |
| chord | a segment whose endpoints lie on a circle |
| diameter | the distance across a circle through its center |
| radius | a line segment that has one endpoint on a circle and the other endpoint at the center of the circle |
| scalene triangle | a triangle with no equal sides |
| isosceles triangle | a triangle with two equal sides |
| equilateral triangles | all sides of the triangle are equal in length |
| acute triangle | a triangle with 3 acute angles |
| obtuse triangle | a triangle with exactly one obtuse angle |
| right triangle | a triangle with exactly one right angle, 90 degrees |
| hypotenuse | the side opposite the right angle in a right triangle |
| leg | the 2 sides of a triangle that form the right angle |
| line | an infinite amount of points that extend forever in two directions (symbol has an arrow on both ends) |
| line segment | a portion of a line that contains two endpoints (symbol is just a straight line) |
| ray | a part of a line that begins at a point and extends in one direction without end (symbol has an arrow on one end) |
| parallel lines | two lines that never intersect |
| perpendicular lines | two lines that intersect to form four right angles |
