Consonants, including ch, ll and rr, go with the vowel that follows
The first rule of accentuation If the word ends in a vowel or in n or s, it is stressed on the next-to-last syllable
Second rule If a word ends in any consonent except n or s, it is stressed on the last syllable
Third rule If the word breaks rules one and two, there is accent mark on the stressed syllable
Fourth rule If the stress is on a weak vowel, an accent must appear
Fifth rule In order to distinguish two words that are spelled alike, an accent is used.
Sixth rule All interrogatives have a written accent when used as questions or in an uncertain statement
Seventh rule No longer necessary to put an accent mark on the demonstrative pronouns. Write an accent mark only when they are unclear.
Eighth rule When forming adverbs ending in ´mente´the adjective retains its accent
