diatomic molecule a molecule composed of two atoms of the same element.
halogen family elements in family or group #17 in the periodic table. They are the most reactive non-metal group
metalloid an element that has the some characteristics of metals and some characteristics of non-metals
noble gas an element in family of group 18 of the periodic table, also known as the inert gas. They are very non-reactive.
non-metal elements that have properties opposite those of metals (i.e.poor conductors of heat and electricity)
semiconductor an element that can conduct electricity under certain conditions
nuclear fusion the process in which smaller nuclei combine into larger nuclei, forming heavier elements.
plasma a state of matter in which atoms are stripped of their electrons and the nuclei are packed closely together.
supernova an explosion of a massive star
