| static character | a character who does not change |
| dynamic character | a character who changes |
| deductive reasoning | starts with a generalization to reach a specific conclusion |
| inductive reasoning | starts with a specific truth then makes a more general conclusion |
| circular reasoning | the reasoner begins with what he or she is trying to end up with |
| hasty generalization | a fallacy in which a conclusion is not logically justified by sufficient or unbiased evidence |
| literary criticism | study, evaluation, and interpretation of literature |
