Numbers

Types of Numbers

TermDefinition
Rational Numbers All numbers that can be expressed in fraction (or ratio) form.
Integers All Whole numbers and their opposites
Whole Numbers All Counting number plus zero
Counting Numbers All Positive whole numbers starting with one. Also known as Natural numbers.
Scientific Notation A number greater than or equal to one and less than ten times ten to some power. Used to express very large and very small numbers.
Fractions Numbers expressed in ratio form with a numerator on top and denominator on the bottom.
