TermDefinition
analyze When you break something into its parts to understand how it works or what effect it has.
conclusion An understanding drawn from a group of details about their meaning or importance in a passage.
evidence Facts, examples, opinions, interviews, or other sources which support a claim the writer makes.
infer When you add what you have learned from the text or what you already know about the subject.
specific Clearly defined or identified.
support When you back up a claim about what the text says with evidence from the text.
author's purpose Why people write or speak: persuade, inform, express or entertain.
detail These help to develop the central idea/main idea of a text.
