TermDefinition
Constant of proptionality the constant value of the ratio of two proportional quantities x and y; usually written y = kx, where k is the factor of proportionality
Direct variation In mathematics, if two variables are related in such a way that the ratio of their values remains the same.
Linear equation a first-order equation involving two variables: its graph is a straight line in the Cartesian coordinate system
Point-slope form The "point-slope" form of the equation of a straight line is: y - y1 = m(x - x1) ... one point on the line; and the slope of the line,. you can find other points on the line.
Slope-intercept form which is y=mx + b, is a way to write linear equations. "M" is the slope of the line and "B" is y-intercept.
Rate of Change The speed at which a variable changes over a specific period of time
Slope to have or take an inclined or oblique direction or angle considered with reference to a vertical or horizontal plane; slant.
x-intercept the distance from the origin to the point at which a curve or line intersects x axis.
y-intercept the distance from the origin to the point at which a curve or line intersects y axis.
Unit Rate is a ratio of two units.
