### Geometry Finals Review

What are the four kinds of Transformation? Reflection/Flip, Translation/Slide, Rotation/Turn, Dilation/Shrink/Expand
Define the Side-Side-Side Postulate. If the sides of a triangle are congruent to the sides of a different triangle, then the two triangles are congruent.
Is there a Angle-Angle-Angle Postulate? No.
Define the Side-Angle-Side Postulate. If two sides and the angle in between in one triangle are congruent to two sides and the angle in between in a different triangle, then the two triangles are congruent.
What is the Angle-Side-Angle Postulate? If two angles and the included side in one triangle are congruent to two angles and the included side in a different triangle, then the two triangles are congruent.
Name a basic element of geometry that cannot be defined. Line
What is the name of the point at which the perpendicular bisectors of a triangle's sides intersect? Circumcenter
Which kind of transformation is NOT isometric? Dilations (All isometries preserve congruence)
What kind of reasoning uses general principles and logical to prove conjectures? Deductive
What kind of quadrilateral only has one pair of parallel sides? Trapezoid
How many lines of symmetry does a regular octagon have? 8
What shape/figure has no lines of symmetry? Triangle
What is the point where angle bisectors in a triangles meet called? Incenter
What is the circle drawn around the incenter called? Inscribed Circle
What is the point where perpendicular bisectors of the sides on a triangle intersect called? Circumcenter
What is the circle drawn around the circumcenter called? Circumscribed Circle
What is the equation of the area of a circle? Pi x the radius squared
What is the 45-45-90 Triangle Theorem? In any 45-45-90 triangle, the length of the hypotenuse is the product of the square root of 2 and the length of a leg.
What is the 30-60-90 Triangle Theorem? For any 30-60-90 triangle, the length of the hypotenuse is 2x the length of the shorter leg and the length of the longer leg is the square root of 3 x the length of the shorter leg.
What is the equation for the area of a hexagon or octagon? 1/2 the apothem x the perimeter
You make 7 free throws out of 10 attempts during basketball practice. You conclude that you will make 70% of your free throws during the next time you practice. What kind of reasoning did you use? Inductive
You look at several figures that are quadrilaterals. All of the figures have four right angles. You conclude that all quadrilaterals have four right angles. What kind of reasoning did you use? Inductive
You are driving on a highway with a speed limit of 65 mph. Your speedometer indicates that you are driving at 64 mph. You conclude that you are driving within the speed limit. What kind of reasoning did you use? Deductive
What type of angle is less than 90 degrees? Acute
What type of angle is more than 90 degrees? Obtuse
What is the equation for the area of a triangle? 1/2 the base x the height
