Hinduism was the what most popular religion in the world? The 3rd most poplar religion in the world
What two things were central to their belief systems? Karma and reincarnation
What does the caste system do? It sets up the social structure of the community
What was the idea that a person's actions determine what will happen after his or her death? Karma
What was the idea that after death a person's soul is reborn into another living being? Reincarnation
What is the system in which each person is born into a particular caste for his or her lifetime? Castes determine a person's job, marriage partner, and friends Caste System
What are the major levels of the caste system? 1. Priests, teachers and judges; 2. Warriors and princes; 3. Merchants and farmers; 4. Laborers and craftsmen; outcasts ( untouchables)
