| Proton | Particle of an atom that is in the nucleus and has a positive charge |
| Neutron | Particle of an atom that is in the nucleus and gives no charge |
| Electron | particle of an atom that si outside of the nucleus and gives a negative charge |
| Atomic Number | Amount of atoms that are in an element |
| Atomic Mass | The mass of a an atom |
| Valence Electrons | The amount of the outermost electrons |

| Non-metal | A material that is brittle/dull, a bad cunductor, and not solid |
| Metalloid | A material that has the characteristics of both metals and non-metals |
| Group | A collumn of elements on the periodic table that have the same number of valence electrons and have similar characteristics |
| Periods | A collumn of elements on the periodic table that have the same number of electron shells |
| Transition Elements | Any set of a metal element that is occupying a central block |
| Represenative Elements | Elements that don't show valence variables |
| Ion | An atom or a molecule with a net charge due to the loss or gain of one or more electrons |
| Isotope | An element where the number of neutrons is decreased or increased |
