If we want to ask how long something has been going on, we use... Cuanto tiempo hace que...
To tell how long something has been going on, we use... Hace (tres dias) que + present-tense verb.
¿Cuánto tiempo hace que estás enferma? How long have you been sick?
¿Cuánto tiempo hace que María y Ana descansan? How long has María and Ana rested?
Hace una semana que estoy enferma. I have been sick for a week.
Hace dos horas que María y Ana descansan. María and Ana have rested for 2 hours.
In spanish, the part of the body that hurts is the sentence and the verb agrees with it. The indirect object pronoun tells who hurts: Me duele la pierna/Me duelen las piernas.
When an infinitive follows one of these verbs, the verb is singular Le encanta bucear, pero no le gusta esquiar.
Sometimes we use a + a pronoun or a person's name for emphasis or to make it clear whom we are referring to. Me duelen los pies. Y a ti,¿Qué te duele? A Pablo le duelen los pies. A Ud. le duelen los pies, ¿No?
We also use indirect object pronouns with gustar and encantar. The verb agrees with the subject in this case, too. Le encamtam los deportes pero no le gusta la música.
