| intersecting lines | lines that cross at exactly one point |
| parallel lines | lines that are always the same distance apart and never intersect |
| perpendicular lines | lines that intersect that and form 4 right angles |
| point | an exact location in a space |
| line | a straight path made up points that go on forever in both directions |
| line segment | part of a line with 2 endpoints |
| ray | a part of a line that has one end point and continues forever in one direction |
| angle | formed by 2 rays or 2 line sigments that have the same endpoint |
| acute angle | an angle with less than 90' |
| right angle | an angle with exactly 90' |
| obtuse angle | an angle with more that 90' |
| acute triangle | a triangle with 3 acute angles |
| obtuse triangle | a triangle with 1 obtuse angle |
| right triangle | a triangle with 1 right angle |
| quadrilateral | a polygon with 4 sides and 4 angles |
| square | 4 sides of equal length, 2 pairs of parallel sides, 4 right angles |
| rectangle | 2 pairs of parallel sides opposite sides are equal 4 right triangle |
| rhombus | 4 sides of equal length 2 pairs of parallel sides |
| parallelogram | 2 pairs of equal length 2 pair pf parallel sides |
| trapezoid | 1 pair of parallel sides |
| line of symmetry | divides a shape into two parts that are the same size and shape. |
