colony Group of people, animals or plants living close together. A group of people who settle in a new land with legal ties to the country they came from.
compensate To make up for, to be equivalent to. To pay for.
compensation Payment or whatever is given or done to make up for something.
deposit To lay down. To put money in a bank account or to give as partial payment.
fascinate To attract; to strongly hold the interest of.Extremely interesting.
feeble Having little strength, weak. Not very believable or satisfying.
formal Following rules or customs, often in an exact and proper way. Suitable for events where strict standards of dress and behavior are expected.
frigid Very cold. Lacking a warm manner: unfriendly.
harsh Rough and unpleasant to the senses. Causing pain; cruel. Not suitable for living things: extremely uncomfortable.
huddle To crowd together. To curl one's limbs up close to one's body. A closely packed group.
remote Far away in time or space. Slight or faint. Controlled indirectly or from a distance. Distant in manner.
resemble To be like or similar to.
rigid Stiff and unbending; not flexible. Strict; not easily changed.
solitary Being alone: lacking the company of others. Being the only one.
substantial Strong: solid. Great in value or size.
waddle To walk with short steps, swaying from side to side. An awkward, clumsy walk.
