unit 2 Relations and Funcions

QuestionAnswer
Relation A set of ordered pairs
function A relation for which each element of the domain corresponds to exactly one element of the range
independent variable A variable in an equation that may have its value freely chosen without considering values of any other variable
Dependent variable A variable that depends on one or more other variables
Input the y-value
Output the x-value
Domain The set of values of the independent variable(s) for which a function or relation
Range The set of y-values of a function or relation
Vertical Line Test A test use to determine if a relation is a function
Coordinate plane The plane formed by a horizontal axis and a vertical axis, often labeled the x-axis and y-axis
Evaluate explanation of how you did something
Function Notation Function notation is a way to name a function that is defined by an equation
Linear Like a line. A description of any graph or data that can be modeled
Common Difference The difference between each number in an arithmetic sequence.
