State the definition of lattice enthalpy. The energy required to from one mole of ionic compound from its gaseous ions under standard conditions.
State the definition of the first electron affinity. The energy required accompanying the addition of one electron to each atom in one mole of gaseous atoms to form one mole of gaseous 1- ions.
State the enthalpy change of atomisation. The energy required to form one mole of gaseous atoms from the element in its standard state.
What does Hess's law state? If a reaction van take place by more than one route and the initial and final conditions art the same, the total enthalpy change is the same for each route.
State the equation to calculate the ionic product of water. KC = [H+][OH-]
What is value of the enthalpy change for an endothermic reaction? +ve
What is the value of the enthalpy change for an exothermic reaction? -ve
