sublimation the process in which a solid chandes directly to a gas ex: dry ice
condensation the change of state from a gas to a liquid ex: cold drink on a hot day
freezing the change of state from a liquid to a solid ex: putting water in the freezer for an hour
boiling the conversion of a liquid to a vapor ex: boiling water
evaporation the change of a substance from a liquid to a gas ex: lakes, pools, oceans
melting change of state from a solid to a liquid with the addition of energy ex: ice melting
viscosity the resistance of a gas or liquid to ex: lava= low viscosity
pressure the amount of force exerted on an object ex: pressing down on tables
plasma a form of matter that consists of a super heated gas that makes up 99% of the known universe
gas a form of matter that does not have a definite volume or shape ex: oxygen
liquid state of matter that has a definite volume not shape ex: water
solid the state of matter in which the volume and hte shape of a substance are fixed
