| Adjective | Describing word |
| Proper noun | Nouns that begin with capitol letters/specific names of people, titles, or places. Example: New Vision, Katie. Clifford |
| root word | Q word or word part that contains the basic meaning of a word. Examples: re(write), (swing)ing |
| Summary | A short retelling of the story |
| prefix | A word part that can be added to the beginning of a word to make a new word |
| adverb | modifies or describes a verb. Examples: slowly, quickly, never, often |
| pronoun | Takes the place of a noun |
| verb | An action word/something you do |
| detail | A small piece of information that supports the main idea |
| infer | To make a smart guess using clues from the text and what you already know |
| suffix | A word part that can be added to the end of a word to create a new word |
| sequence | order of events |
| noun | person, place or thing |
| predict | to tell what you think will happen next |
| fact | someting that actually exists/reality/truth |
| character trait | A quality that makes a person different from another. examples: brave, strong, happy, determined |
| main idea | What the story is mostly about/the central message |
| opinion | A belieft or judgment/personal view or feeling |
| solution | How the problem was solved |
| problem | what went wrong |
| plot | The events that make up a story/ beginning, middle, end |
