3rd person POV when the story is told from an outsider’s perspective “they did this…”
dialogue spoken words
characterization how an author develops a character (actions, thoughts, dialogue)
flashback a stop in the current time period to look at something that happened in the past
foreshadowing hints at what will happen in the future
suspense a feeling of excitement about what might happen
antagonist the force working against the protagonist
protagonist the character the action revolves around
mood the feeling the reader gets from the text
tone how the author feels about the subject
theme a universal message about life addressed in a text
