input/output table | a table of related values |

distributive property | multiplying a sum (or difference) by a number gives the same result as multiplying each number in the sum (or difference by the number and adding (or subtracting) the products |

commutative property of addition | the order in which number are added dose not change the sum of the numbers |

algebraic expression | a mathematical phrase that has at least one variable and one operation |

commutative property of multiplication | the order in which numbers are multiplied dose not change the product of the numbers |

variable | a quantity that can change or vary, often repressed with a letter |

coefficient | the number that is multiplied by a variable in an algebraic expression. |

substitution | to replace a variable with a number |
