Variables, Expressions, and Properties

| Evaluate | To find the value of an expression |
| Identity Property of Addition | Adding zero to a number does not change the number |
| Identity Property of Multiplication | The product of a number and one is that number |
| Associative Property of Multiplication | The way numbers are grouped doe not affect the product |
| Input/ Output Table | A table of related values |
| Distributive Property | Multiplying a sum (or difference) by a number gives the same result as multiplying each number in the sum ( or difference) by the number and adding (or subtraction) the products |
| Order of Operations | Set of rules mathematicians use to determine the order in which operations are performed |
| Substitution | To replace a variable with a number |
| Commutative Property of Multipication | the ordering which numbers are multiplied does not change the product of numbers |
| Variable | A quantity that can change at vary, often represented with a letter |
| Commutative Property of Addition | The order in which numbers are added does not change the sum of the numbers |
| Coefficient | The number that is multiplied by a variable in a algebraic expression Ex: for 6x + 5, the coefficient is 6 |
| Associative property of Addition | The way numbers are grouped does not affect the sum |
| Algebraic expression | A mathematical phrase that has a least one variable and one operation |
