What does a sentence in natural order usually begin with? An introductory word or phrase.
Determine what order the sentence is. Are the answers in the back of the book? The sentence is in inverted order. {Are} the (answers) in the back of the book?
8.Lost in the desert were the five men. 9.Could they find their way out? 8.The five men were lost in the desert. 9.Could they find their way out? They could find their way out. 10. Almost all hope had they lost. They had lost almost all hope.
prepositional phrase a group of words that begins with a preposition and usually ends with the noun or a pronoun that is the object of the preposition
What is a sentence fragment? Sentence fragments are incomplete sentences that don't make sense on their own.

Correct the following sentence fragment. Was running as fast as possible to the bus stop. Dr. Dorian was running to the bus stop as fast as possible.
There are 4 kinds of sentences. What are the sentences? simple, compound, complex, Compound-complex.

complex sentence a sentence that has one independent clause and at least one dependent clause.
compound sentence a sentence that has at least two independent clauses.
compound-complex sentence a sentence that has at least two independent clauses and at least one dependent clause.
dependent clause a group of words that has a subject and a verb but cannot stand alone as a sentence
independent clause a group of words that has a subject and a verb and can stand alone as a sentence
simple sentence a sentence that has one independent clause

Inverted Order doesn't change what? Inverted order doesn't change the number of subjects or verbs
Write an example of a sentence in inverted order. Answers may vary. Into the mist, the viking longboat sails.
Does a sentence in inverted order have to have a subject and a verb that agree? Yes. The subject and verb must agree in number even if the subject is a collective noun or a title that contains a plural noun.

Adverbs usually answer what type of questions? Adverbs typically answer questions such as how?, in what way?, when?, where?, and to what extent?.
What is an appositive phrase? An appositive is a noun or noun phrase that renames another noun right beside it. The appositive can be a short or long combination of words.
