| Literal | taking words in their usual and most basic sense without metaphor or allegory |

| Subtext | an underlying and often distinct theme in a piece of writing or conversation |
| Vernacular | the language spoken by the ordinary people in a particular country/region |
| Archaic | very old or old-fashioned |
| Anecdote | a short and amusing or interesting story about a real incident or person |
| Amiable | having or displaying a friendly and pleasant manner |
| Abhor | regard with disgust and hatred |
| Audacious | showing willingness to take surprisingly bold risks |
| Acumen | the ability to make good judgements and quick decisions, typically in a particular domain |
