| Strict constructionist | : one who favors giving a narrow conservative construction of a given document or instrument; specif : one who favors a strict construction of the Constitution of the United States |
| Liberal constructionist | refers to persons who believe in a variety meanings for different parts of the constitution. They do so by arguing for different meanings on constitutional representations. They are more common within the federal government system. |
| Consensus | : a general agreement about something : an idea or opinion that is shared by all the people in a group |
| Direct tax | : a tax exacted directly from the taxpayer |
| Indirect tax | : a tax exacted indirectly from a person other than the one on whom the ultimate burden of the tax is expected to fall |
| Deficit financing | : the financing of government expenditures by borrowing rather than by taxation |
| Public debt | : the total financial obligations of the central government of a nation usu. in the form of interest-bearing government bonds —called also public debt |
| Naturalization | : to allow (someone who was born in a different country) to become a new citizen |
| Copyright | : the legal right to be the only one to reproduce, publish, and sell a book, musical recording, etc., for a certain period of time |
| Patent | : of, relating to, or concerned with patents |
| Eminent domain | : a right of a government to take private property for public use by virtue of the superior dominion of the sovereign power over all lands within its jurisdiction |
| Appropriate | : to get or save (money) for a specific use or purpose |
