Figures of speech

| Stereotype | Making generalizations about a group of people |
| Soliloquy | The thought of a character, spoken when the character is alone on stage and addressed to the audience |
| Prologue | The opening speech or scene at the beginning of a play or novel |
| Racism | A negative attitude towards a certain race |
| Descrimination | Excluding someone based on gender, colour, race, class or appearance |
| Epilogue | The ending speech or scene of a play or novel |
| Prose | Something written in the ordinary laguage of conversation |
| Genre | The type of literature, such as horror or mystery |
| Personification | Giving human qualities to objects |
| Etiquette | rules of social behaviour |
| Conflict | The main problem in a story |
| Satire | A form of humour, usually making fun of humans |
| Protagonist | The main character in a story |
| Theme | The message the author is trying to give the reader |
