Argument Terms
| Term | Definition |

| Claim (Thesis) | What your arguing, big point you are trying to prove. |
| Reasons (Sub-Claims) | Main reasons why you think your claim is true. |
| Evidence | Direct quotations, examples, statistics, supports reason and claim. |
| "SO WHAT" (Warrant) | What connects your reasons and evidence to the major claim and explains why they are relevant to your argument. |
| Rebuttal (counter-argument) | Where you acknowledge argument/evidence for the OTHER SIDE |
| Rhetoric | Art of using language effectively and persuasively |
| Exigence | the circumstance, situation, or issue the speaker is inspired to respond to. |
| Audience | the intended person, people or group the speaker is trying to reach |
| Purpose | outcome of the speech, why he is writing it |
| Appeals | the approaches the speaker uses to influence the audience. |
| Ethos | statements designed to CONVINCE the audience of the speakers knowledge |
| Pathos | statments designed to WORK EMOTIONS of the audience and influencing their feelings |
| Logos | logic and reasoning using support to influence reader |
