| Algebra | mathematics in which there is an unknown quantity |
| coefficient | the number that is multiplied by the variable in an algebraic expression |
| Domain | the set of all possible input values of a function |
| Equation | a mathematical sentence that shows two expressions are equivalent. |
| Expression | a mathematical phrase that contains operations, numbers, and/or variables |
| Function | an input-output relationship that has exactly one output for each input |
| Inequality | a mathematical sentence that shows the relationship between quantities that are not equivalent. |
| Ordered Pair | a pair of numbers that can be used to locate a point on a coordinate plane |
| Perimeter | the distance around a polygon |
| Pythagorean Theory | in a right triangle, the square of the length of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the lengths of the legs |
| Range | the set of all possible output values of a function |
| Substitution | to replace a variable with a number or another expression in an algebraic expression |
| Variable | a symbol used to represent a quantity that can change |
| polynomial | one monomial or the sum or difference of monomials |
