Algebra mathematics in which there is an unknown quantity
coefficient the number that is multiplied by the variable in an algebraic expression
Domain the set of all possible input values of a function
Equation a mathematical sentence that shows two expressions are equivalent.
Expression a mathematical phrase that contains operations, numbers, and/or variables
Function an input-output relationship that has exactly one output for each input
Inequality a mathematical sentence that shows the relationship between quantities that are not equivalent.
Ordered Pair a pair of numbers that can be used to locate a point on a coordinate plane
Perimeter the distance around a polygon
Pythagorean Theory in a right triangle, the square of the length of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the lengths of the legs
Range the set of all possible output values of a function
Substitution to replace a variable with a number or another expression in an algebraic expression
Variable a symbol used to represent a quantity that can change
polynomial one monomial or the sum or difference of monomials
constant a value that does not change
Mononomial a number or a product of numbers and variables with exponents that are whole numbers
Binomial a polynomial with two terms
Trinomial a polynomial with three terms
Constraint is a condition that a solution to an optimization problem is required by the problem itself to satisfy
