statement A declaration.

glossary A specialized vocabulary list found at the back of a book.
expository A writing that gives information about a topic.
excerpt A passage from a book that is reprinted into another book.
examine To look at something closely.
contrast To show differences between things.
cite To quote a person as an authority or as knowledgeable about a subject.
acronym A word formed from the first letters of a name or phrase. Ex: NASA
acquire To gain possession of something.
