*Cryptic [L. crypticus/G. Kruptikos, hidden, kruptein] Having hidden meaning; mystifying; secret or occult
*Altruism [L. alter, other] Unselfish concern for the welfare of others
*Nemesis [Gk. nemein, to deal out] In Greek mythology, the goddess of retributive justice (capitalized); hence, just punishment, retibution
Surrogate Something that serves as a substite
Medley An often jumbled assortment; a mixture
*Incense [E. ensencen, F. incenser, L. incensare] Aromatic substance, pleasant smell
Sedulous Diligent in application or pursuit; painstaking
Castigate To punish or rebuke severely
