| fiction | A piece of writing that is made up by the writer - imaginary |
| characters | The people in the story |
| setting | This is where and when the story takes place |
| conclusion | The happy or unhappy ending to a story |
| plot | How the events of a story are linked together - what happened, why it happened, how it happened |
| conflict | A struggle or a contest in the story |
| suspense | The excitement and anxiety of wondering what is going to happen |
| climax | This is the high point of the story, where the excitement is at its highest |
| theme | This is the central idea, message or moral of a story |
| dialogue | The words that the characters say |
| narrator | The person telling the story |
| first person narrator | A first person narrator always uses I, me and my to show that the story happened to them |
| third person narrator | The story is told by a narrator who is not included in the story. |
