Chemical and physical properties and change

QuestionAnswer
Reactants The ingredients that interact and cause a physical or chemical change
Product What is made after the physical or chemical change occurs.
Physical Properties Properties that can be observed or measured withouth changing the matter. Examples: odor, density, mass, state, volume, color, texture
Chemical Properties Describes matter based on its ability to change into new matter with different properties, these properties can only be observed during a chemical change. Examples: Flammability and re-activity.
Physical Change A change that does not for a new substance. Examples: Butter on toast, mixing Koolaid, and making trail mix.
Chemical Change One or more substances are changed into new substances that have new and different properties. Examples: Grilling a steak, color change when chemicals are mixed.
Thermal Energy Heat Energy
Conduction The transfer of heat through solids.
Convection The transfer of heat through liquids and gases; occurs in a cycle.
Radiation The transfer of heat through electromagnetic rays from the sun.
