| Enculturation | The slow and day-to-day process of learning your group’s culture as an infant and a child |
| credible | able to be believed reasonable to trust or believe |
| assimilation | to cause a person or group to become part of a different society, country, etc. |
| Diversity | the state of having people who are different races or who have different cultures in a group or organization |
| Reiterate | to repeat something you have already said in order to emphasize it |
| Extract | to remove (something) by pulling it out or cutting it out |
| Concrete | Hard or solid- able to be see or touched. |
| Imagery | A language that causes people to imagine things in their mind. |
| Analogy | the act of comparing two things that are alike in some way |
| Metaphor | an object, activity, or idea that is used as a symbol of something else |
| Smile | an expression on your face that makes the corners of your mouth turn up and that shows happiness, amusement, pleasure, affection, etc. |
| Acrostic | a poem, word puzzle, or other composition in which certain letters in each line form a word or words. |
| Refrain | a phrase or verse that is repeated regularly in a poem or song |
| Denotation | The literal/real meaning of a word or phrase |
| connotation | How a word phrase makes you feel |
| symbolism | Using a word or picture to represent a particular idea, feeling, or meaning. |
| Aspiration | something that a person wants very much to achieve |
| Thesis statement | The last sentence of an introduction sentence of an introduction, that explains exactly what the essay is about, and what will be in the body paragraph. |
| Hook | The first sentence of and introduction that grabs reader’s attention and makes them want to read on. |
