Chapter 1 Vocabulary

Definition Term
A location. It is represented by a dot. Point
A series of points that extends in two opposite directions without end. It is represented by a line with two arrowheads. Line
A flat surface that has no thickness. It is represented by a shape that looks like a floor or a wall, but it extends without end. Plane
Part of a line consisting of two endpoints. Line segment AB consists of two end points A and B and all the points between A and B. Line Segment
Ray XY consists of an endpoint X and all of the points on a line XY in the direction of Y. Ray
Points that are on the same line. Collinear Points
Points that are on the same plane. Coplanar Points
Two rays that share the same endpoint and extend in opposite directions. (Creates a line) Opposite Rays
Two or more geometric figures intersect if they have one or more points in common. Intersection
