Math Vocabulary

TermDefinition
absolute value the distance that number is from zero on a number line
additive inverse two integers that are the opposite. The sum of an integer and its additive inverse is zero . 5 +-5=0
integer Any number from a set
negative integer an integer that is less than zero
opposites Two integers areopposite if the;y are represented by points the same distance from zero . The sum of two opposites is zero.
positive integer An integer that is greater than zero . It can be written with or without a + sign
