DefintionTerm
_________ is the organized pattern or sequence of events that make up a story. Every ______ is made up of a series of incidents that are related to one another. Plot
This is part of the story begins to develop conflict(s). A building of interest or suspense occurs. Rising Action
Background information given to the reader, which usually occurs at the beginning of a short story. Here the characters are introduced. We also learn about the setting of the story. Expostion
The turning point of the story. It is the end of the struggle when the main character comes face to face with the problem, the conflict is resolved, and the main character is changed in some way. Climax
The effects of the climax are shown. Things get back to a “new normal” and life goes on. Falling Action
The story comes to a reasonable ending. Any questions left in the reader’s mind are answered. Denouement
the event that occurs to begin the action and to signal the beginning of the main conflict, the “problem” that the main character is facing. The conflict continues throughout the rising action. Inciting Incident
